I was blown away when Katarina Roccella asked if I'd like to participate in the Blog Tour for her new collection Avant Garde for Art Gallery Fabrics. I had to take a few minutes to calm myself before responding with a resounding, "YES!" This collection is amazing. The colors are simply stunning and the designs are so bold on their own yet flow so well together. I'm a huge fan of both "busy" and "simple" prints, so this collection is everything I want and need in my life.
I chose to use a black leather for the handles because the fabrics bring more than enough color to the bags. Katarina was nice enough to understand the difficulty I was having picking from one colorway (who could even do that) so she sent a little of both and I made a bag from each! I chose the Rockstar Bag pattern designed by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. It's my favorite bag pattern and this collection worked perfectly in every way.
Working with this collection was such a fun process. Each fabric has its own personality and the vibrant colors just made me perpetually happy.
As you can see in the photo below, even the solids have amazing texture to them.
Steps Above makes excellent binding! Those distressed stripes and arrows are delicious!
